Leading up to the Okotoks International Film Festival, a competition is held that tests the skills, and nerves, of directors, actors, writers alike...it is the 48 Hr Film Challenge! Starting Friday night at 6:00 pm, teams are given a mystery box which holds the parameters on the film they need to make. This includes a prop that every team gets and must be used, a genre of film, and a directorial style that needs to be emulated. In addition to the prop every team received, which was party streamers, Team OneOhFive drew the genre of Western and the style of Quentin Tarantino. Teams then have 48 hours to write, storyboard, film and edit the 6 minute max short film, all of which need to be submitted by 6:00 pm Sunday night. Films are then judged and screened on the big screen to close the Film Festival in June. Blaine's entry, titled A Negative Crusade, can be seen HERE in which Blaine plays the character of Father David. The film had great success as it was the winner of the Best Use of Genre.
